In Martin Luther King Jr's speech "I have a dream" he compares the issues that were occuring those years to Abraham Lincoln's to the Emancipation Proclamation, a time where African American were not free. He explained that African Americans were still not free and this shouldn't still be a problem, and segregation and racism was still present. He believed it was time for African Americans to take a stand and try to fight for the rights they have been promised a long time ago. This famous speech talks about how he hopes to have an America where discrimination isn't present.
