William Jennings, a democrat from Nebraska gave the speech "Cross of gold"and after this speech he was nominated to run as a candidate for the 1896+ elections by the democratic national convention. William stated in his speech he supports the working class and "money question" is the issue the country faces nowadays. He supported Andrew Jackson, as he wanted to remove power from the wealthy and give more to the working men. Bryan's party was called the silver democrats. He was well known for supporting the common man.
