The main points of the monroe doctrine were that they were to be respected and will remain uninvolved with any internal European powers. They wanted to remain uninvolved and uncolonized by any more European nations. They also wanted to create friendly relationships with other nations as they encouraged foreign relations. They will get involved if they are violating the rights of the people. The US will also protect any independent states if they are threatened. They were finally protecting their rights and the country from foreign powers, showing the states is now a major power.
