In this passage they are stating their main beliefs and goals, they want to correct the issues of how society builds up only the rich and the faults of a solely gold based currency. While they are running and waiting to be elected, they list out specific goals they want to achieve. They want labor unions to be permanently supported, the wealth that the rich earn to be dispersed between the workers that earned it and for the government to start managing railroads. They are very sympathetic to the working class and want to improve the lives of the less fortunate and think the government is not doing enough to reward the working class.
