Presidents LAD/Blog #8: Washington's Farewell Address

The farewell address starts out with Washington thanking his supporters and his country, then saying he will not be running for re-election to be president of the United States.Washington also mentions how important unity is, and if we do not have it we will not have peace, prosperity, or property in the nation. Due to how different political parties have different opinions, he thinks this will ruin liberty. This was a big reason for Washington as he was sick of different sides arguing and getting nothing done. He also mentions how important the constitution is and how every citizen of the United States needs to maintain the fundamental principles. Another main thing mentioned by Washington is the importance of good international relations, it also warns them of staying out of international policies and alo says neutrality is the best way for the United States to thrive.
